Architecture and interior design are not just about maths, materials and positioning, it’s also about feeling and meaning.

How can we transform a monotone room in our house, to something which feel like us, with a maximum budget of $1,500?

My partner and I took a journey to renovate our lounge. After analysing what it was representing to us, I designed a concept that could make feel us in a sanctuary away from the busyness of time and the external world. A place to relax, think and create. The key messages in the room are depicted by:

The bird – meaning freedom

The cave – meaning refuge away from busy times

Dark colours and soft lights – meaning relax
